Download CSI: Crime Scene Investigation Season 3

Season three delves far deeper into the emotions and personalities of the main cast than the previous two seasons. Whereas in the earlier episodes it was usually the crimes that were the focal point, with character development a distant second. In the third season I would put that closer to 50/50. Catherine finds out that something from her past has a huge relevance on her future, and about who she is. She also has yet more emotional baggage to deal with regarding her ex husband. Gil is torn between the decision to have his hearing gradually disappear or have an operation that will either save or end his career. Sara finally confronts her true love, challenging him to take this opportunity now or live with the consequences that he may live a lonely life. We find out more about Warrick and Nick; how their earlier lives shaped their destinies.

As in season two we are getting to see more of Dr Robins and he can now be regarded as one of the principal characters. The disturbing glee he gets from sawing the top off somebody's head, to get at examining their brain, is more than a little mad! He seems to relate well to Gill, they are the nearest thing to bosom buddies, without actually socialising or having any life out of work together. Greg is the shows comedic outlet again. He is the only person able to see the light-hearted side of what they do. Admittedly they are working on some disturbing stuff, but they surely are allowed a laugh now and then aren't they? His hairdresser has definitely got a cracking sense of humour!

Like other seasons most of the episodes can be watched as a stand-alone. You can watch one without fear that it will hinder another. There is a rather bloodthirsty kill spree, however, that carries on for several episodes and leads back to a face from the past. I think that every series needs a plot line that holds you on your seat for a couple of episodes. If nothing else it gives you reason to discuss the possible outcome with friends.

Season three of CSI is like the end of a favourite book. The story ends exactly how you predicted it would. The same faces you have come to know, trust and admire over the previous two seasons have reached the end of the road. Before you panic, this is not meant to say the show is finished as a spectacle. What I mean is all the things you thought would happen, now have. It is now up to the writers to shock us in season four with unpredictable twists for their creations.

The DVD is presented in 16:9 Widescreen and Dolby 5.1 sound. The picture quality is excellent, even if at times the screen can be a bit dark due to the topic of the day. The sound is really good too. It's worth pointing out that many TV shows are improving the audio on DVD releases, they know we demand it!

A lot of you like audio commentaries and you won’t be disappointed with this box set. Six of the episodes feature detailed analysis from cast and crew. You either love these or loath them. If there's something you have to know about a particular episodes, these can be life savers.

There are also six featurettes over the two box sets. These are as follows CSI moves into series three, CSI Tour the Police Station, CSI Shot-Making it Real, Writers Room and Crime Scene Field Kit. Broadly speaking if you watch all of these there cannot be much you need to know about the show. You have the writers, the locations, the set and the tools of the trade. Want any more and you're getting greedy!

To sum up, if you've bought series one and two you wont need to read this, because you will have already bought series three. If you have never seen the show before and are on the fence think this; millions of Americans can't be wrong, can they? OK that was a bad example. Just beg, borrow or steal series one and you will be hooked on crime solving before you know it.
